I love doing this type of geometric work. The challenge here was trying to keep it painterly within the structured shapes. The heavy bodied paper that I used drinks every bit of moisture making it a constant struggle to get any paint movement to reveal itself. I do love the light open feel in the end. Diebenkorn, you are the master. If you were still here today, I would be stalking you.

Inspired by the merging of a rather moody feel from the indigo block melting to the bright lemony yellow below.

I’m looking for a name?

'Untiled 1002' "9x12" watercolor gouache painting by Victoria Kloch

I’m looking for a name.  What’s would be your first impression on this abstract watercolor?  Purple and Green are not the colors I visit very often although I’m fond of this combination.  I suppose that it’s not necessary to name each piece, but it just feels a little unfinished leaving it untitled to me. What do you think?

Turning Stone to Pearls – Sold

‘Turning Stone to Pearls’
acrylic abstract 30″ x 40″ by Victoria Kloch

I had been discussing with an artist friend of mine that I often paint over existing works that don’t agree with me. This was the case with this canvas. Without seeing this painting he said that by doing so it was like turning stone to pearls.

That is how this piece got the name ‘Turning Stone to Pearls. I felt that it was perfect because this has an essence of pearls.

This now resides in Norway.
