Edna and Pete were a retired couple who lived across the street. They became surrogate grandparents to my young daughters. Edna always made an extra cup of pudding for each girl waiting for their visit. When my girls were small, I tried to limit their television viewing. Everyday at a 3:00 I noticed the girls asking if they could go visit Edna. Like clock work, again Dawn asked if she could go see Edna. I was curious as to why 3:00? I took my own little walk and peeked inside Edna’s front door. There they were. Tara, Dawn and the T.V. It’s hard to imagine Edna without Pete. They came into this young mother’s life loving us as family. Edna and Pete, God’s love supreme. Yellow was the color of their home.
About this Collection
This is one of many small oil paintings in my series titled ‘Women’. They each represent family, friends and other women who bring inspiration in our daily lives. This project started out as a study for future color palettes for my larger paintings and emerged as little gems. At first when it came time to name each piece, I realized that each had their own personalities and reminded me of individuals that have touched my life in some way.
