Violet is my second born granddaughter. Tara’s first child. I was present at her birth and this moment will be forever etched in my heart. I’ll never forget how I felt as I stood there and watched this precious little bundle wrapped in swaddling fashion. Finally, this sacred moment became reality as she was placed in my arms. Violet now into her teens is an artist that is driven by something deep within that she must get it out. This obsession is something that is very familiar to me and I believe it is something that you must be born with. On that note, this young woman is bright beyond her years. Caring, sassy and sweet in one small package. I asked her to choose her palette for this painting. She suggested minty, pistachio greens, cyan blues and baby pinks with a oceany feel.
Violet, let’s get together and paint soon!
About this Collection
This is one of many small oil paintings in my series titled ‘Women’. They each represent family, friends and other women who bring inspiration in our daily lives. This project started out as a study for future color palettes for my larger paintings and emerged as little gems. At first when it came time to name each piece, I realized that each had their own personalities and reminded me of individuals that have touched my life in some way.
